South Africa: Western Cape

On this page I will be bringing together links to various blog posts about wine-related travel in the country of South Africa.  I spent two weeks visiting the Western Cape and will be posting information on over 20 wineries across several varied regions.  Wineries in South Africa on the whole are very accommodating of visits whether you are an expert or if it is your first visit to a vineyard or winery.  They also often serve very good food and in very popular areas may also have other attractions such as art galleries.

For anyone travelling to South Africa (or just interested in the wines) I would recommend getting hold of the latest copy of John Platter’s Wine Guide, which covers the wineries and wines of South Africa in unparalleled detail.  It also includes useful maps of the winelands which will assist greatly in planning your trip.  The more information you have available in advance the more opportunity you will have to fit in some visits or to know what to buy
